My Ford Ranger has a 4.0 V6 and when the engine is under a load the exhaust manifolds get orange hot. I have replaced the ECM and had two ford dealers look at the truck but they can't find anything wrong. I'm at my wits end with this one. i have checked and re-checked for vacuum leaks, you name it. any ideas?????
Have you tried to see if the catalytic converter is OK? It may be plugged or blocked. With a load on the engine it may be possible to have the heat back up from the increase in flow. I would guess though that it should also diminish your power.
