We have a 1993 Areostar that is chugging when you get between 80-100km/hr. Also we are getting an anit-freeze smell...what could be the problem?
Re: 1993 Anti-freeze smell Austin 1-22-06
The chugging could be various things from a tune-up, to bad gas, weak compression...just depends

The anti-freeze smell, if you're catching the smell inside your vehicle, 9 times out of 10 you're in need of a new heater core. I paid 29.99 for mine in a 91 Ford Ranger and yours will probably be similar. I have never installed one in a van before, that might be a task...

Concerning the 1993 Ranger with an antifreeze smell; if you do not smeel it inside the truck, it may be head gaskets. I have a '94 whose head gaskets seep slightly. You never see any droppings, but if you raise the vehicle and look carefully, you may see coolant tracings, where it has run down from the head gaskets, and dried.
