I have a 1966 c10 truck I replaced the steering column from a 1966 Biscayne column shift, When linkage is connected in the park position low gear is in drive and gears are out of place, when transmission and column are in low gear,Park in a high reverse. Can any one tell me how to fix this problem?
Thanks
John
You need to modify you existing transmission bracket that bolts to the selector shaft going into the side of the transmission. you are actually ratcheting the lever the opposite direction from what you need. You will need to either turn the lever and re-slot the mounting hole 180 degrees, or make (weld) a new extension to the existing bracket which will allow you to work the shaft in the opposite direction from where it opperates now. It really is very simple. (Musc harder to explaine).
