My tranny is in a 96 chevy 6.5 diesel when cold it will hold 4th but once it warms it seems like it is not going in to 4th all the way like it is slipping any ideas
My 2000 Chevy with a 4L80 will not lock up the converter. After driving for around 10 miles or so it will default back from 4th to 3rd gear. I have all 3 gears but not overdrive. Once I cycle the key the process starts over. No codes. Dealer says torque converter, trans shop says this trans has problems with overdrive bushings wearing out. Anyone had this problem?
I have a 2000 Chevy Four Winds with a 4L80E Transmission and my Check eng light comes on after driving about 50 miles. Download codes (OBD II) as follows: P0341(Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range Performance); P0758 (Shift Solenoid B Electrical); P1860 TCC PWM Solenoid Electrical Fault and P1870. I plan to replace both shift solenoids and TCC PWM Solenoid but can't find their location? Any ideas???????
Have a 1996 gmc 1 ton 5.7 with a 4l80 e we have spent a week playing guessing games the truck shows code 87 we have replaced the internal harness a and b solenoids pressure control solenoid new computer checked outside harness ignition harness and all of this was after the tranny shop rebuild it this tranny had a whine in it and was removed from the truck and replaced with a used one which did good but was stuck in second gear also so im having duplicate problems out of two different trannys any ideas thanks
I had TCC problems on a 93 4L80 in a motor home and after replacing the trans, torque converter, I finally checked the Throttle Position Sensor. It was putting out one volt at full throttle. should have been close to five volts.
Very easy to change and only costs about $37.00.
The throttle position sensor output regulates transmission hydralic pressure.
...so many times the tranny shift like a hammer in a rock by the first gear to the second and litte less to the third.By the way the overdrive is not operate....do you have a idea?? thank's
1995 k2500hd 4x4 7.4/454 suburban 4l80e trans. truck shifts fine for several days then go out to start it and it has prn1st only. wont shift out of first gear to second. will go into reverse or park. disconnnect the battery and it resets itself immediately and will shift fine again for several days? have replaced tps, all three vss's, fluid and filter... any ideas?
I have 1 ton 6.5L 4l80e.
Starts good every morning but speedo bounces or stops for first mile. ABS light comes on. I stop and re start, fine for the rest of the day.
No start hot.If driven around town is ok but if hauling it wont start for 2 hours. I get code 39 (TCC Stuck off).
Where and where and what. My manual don't cover this. I replaced other components in the trans. Thanks. Don

I fixed the problem i put in new both the A and B solinoids about two hours of easy work and 50 bucks later truck works like new it cost me more than that to take it to the chevy dealer just for them to say "its not working here is your bill" I will never go to another dealer agian just go buy the book and fix it is much cheaper.
Check the water temp. sensor for a bad conection. It is located on the crossover pipe in the front of the engine. The sensor has to reach a certain value before it will let the transmission shift into overdrive. My overdrive would't shift until the engine service soon light would come on
I had a 4l80e transmission supposably rebuilt in a 91 chevy 1 ton 4x4 put it in and no reverse took it out replace pressure reg vavle and servo pin put it back in and still no reverse the drum brake was repalced and supposably the cluthches please help could it be a sensor in pan it has all forward gears fine just no reverse
I have a 1997 S10 Chev Blazer w/105000 mi. The transnission (4L80E) recently has lost 1st & OD. I scanned it and obtained the following codes:
1) P0740 TCC Malfunction
2) P0753 Shift Solenoid A Electrical
3) P0785 Shift Timing Solenoid Malfunct
4) P1860 PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical
Transmission has had fluid/filter changed in a regular fashion. Fluid is not burned, car will drive, starting in 2nd & shifting to 3rd. My initial thought is to replace the items associated with the codes.
97 4l80e:
No reverse and shifts hard intermittently.
cause:
Broken reverse servo drum. This is an easy fix, remove pan and there is a servo drum all by itself towards the back. Take it apart, the rest should be self explanatory. The break in the drum is very obvious once you remove the outer drum cover.
I have a 97' suburban with a 4L60E trans. The problem is it is stuck in gear. All gears including park. When I start it it lurches again the parking gear. When I put it in reverse it goes in but forward gear is also engaged. Any ideas???
Trying to find the location where to look of Transmission Control Solenoid to see if I can replace it myself.
No code
Hard shift from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th
trun engine off and let sat then restart sometimes the transmission changes gear smoothly
1996 Chev, Suburban, C2500, 7.4L, 2wd
transmission 4L80E
I have a 95 ford ranger v6 4.0 i replaced the egr valve and the idle air sensor still when i put the truck in drive it stalls i get the truck to move and jam the truck in drive it will drive but when i put it in rev. it idles fine?? any ideas
While driving the freeway, the trans lost 4th ( O.D.) and 3rd ( drive).
I limped it home, where I discovered that it also apparently lost low gear.
2nd and reverse seem to work fine.
93 chev 1 ton dulley obb1 said tcc mal function, tps malfunction. Tans slipped real bad. I cleared the codes now the trans do not want to shift at all?
We were having all sorts of inappropriate-shifting problems with our transmission ('95 blazer) but they all went away when I removed the valve body and replaced it with a rebuilt one from www.centralvalvebodies.com. The shipping was overnight and the cost was less than $250. This valve body is prone to something called "bore wear" which causes a loss of the pressure the tranny needs to shift and/or apply clutches. Unlike their old-school predecessors (which have steel valves housed in a cast-iron valve body), the computer-controlled trannys are all aluminum; a configuration that simply can't stand up, especially when you realize that the computer is moving those valves thousands of times each second. The fix that worked so well for me might not be what you need; expecially if your tranny has been driven in a malfunctioning condition for an extended period. Ours still had clean/pink fluid (not the brownish, burnt-smelling stuff)
I have a 4l80 e that is starting in second then dropping into first when throttle is added. I replaced the "A" solonoid the filter behind the manual valve, the o'ring on 3rd checkball valve, the valve body. tried changing the computer. by passed the computer by grounding the solonoids myself. Problem still exists. I also resealed the tranny inside and out. new pressure control solonoid. When it does this the pressure reading is 25 lbs at idle and when you throttle it a little it will bump into first about 90 lbs 10% throttle. worse when hot...won't downshift out of second even manuall, but all the other gears are there including lock up. nice and firm scan tool readings are correct. commmanded gear shows what its supposed to in first only its not in first its in second. You tell me.
My 1995 Chevy 1-ton 4x4 6.5 diesel truck shifts 1st to 2nd and then to 3rd while crossing the intersection. The truck shifts to soon. I replaced the accelerator pedal switch. The transmission was rebuild three months ago.
I have a CK2500 with 6.5 diesel. Throws code P1870 and will not go into overdrive untill it cools down a bit. I have a temp gage on trasmission and all is normal but still will go back to working once it sits a bit.
Any clues please help
I have a 2000 silverado 2500 with 4180e,it shifts smooth most of time but its starting to shift hard through all gears since weather has gotten colder.i took it to gm dealer and had the trans flushed but didn't help.i also had the filter and fluid chaned around 90k now it has 125k could it have a bad valve body? i also noticed fluid comming from trans vent hose
Adams got lucky, he could have spent a fortune guessing a which part to change next.not to mention a few days on his back under that thing.go to a trans specialist,. the are much than the dealer at transmissions
Wondering if anyone knows the difference between a humvee 4l80e tranny and a 4l60e chevy 1500 tranny. are they interchangable? what mods would i have to do to make it work if so?
I have a 96 zr2 s10 blazer and had the same troubles 2 diffrent times. I replaced them 2 times in the past 6 years i owned the truck...there are 2 solonoids in your transmission that move faster than can be seen and they are very common to wear out over time....napa auto parts has them for 34 bucks a piece which is the cheapest i have found... changing the solonoids can be difficult if you dont remove cross mem bar....just pull the trans pan off and they are right there....dont forget to replace ur trans filter for it needs to be if ever opened up.. hope the best 4 ya.. Brandon,
I have a chevy blazer S10 and i scanned two time and shows this codes
1) P0740 TCC Malfunction
2) P0753 Shift Solenoid A Electrical
3) P0785 Shift Timing Solenoid Malfunct
4) P1860 PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical but the secon time after i drain some oil because the transsmision was overfill only shoes one P0740 TCC MALFUNCTION CAN I JUST REPLACE THIS SOLENOID AND CAN U TELLME WHERE CAN I GET IT
