I have a 1986 lesharo.iam in the middle of an engine swap. the doner is a gm v/6 and tranny. the problem ihave run in to is mating the c/v joints. the gm splined ends are much smaller than the oem of the lesharo. i was wondering if it is possable to use the oem spline ends and mount them to the gm output shafts? Or is there an easier method?
Hi, I have a 1989 LeSharo that I would like to convert to a 3800V6GM motor and transmission. Any info,Pictures and Advice would be appreciated.Donner vechicle will be a Buick or olds full sized 1991-1994 Thanks Murray
Hi, I though that a shop in Bozeman, Montana worked on the LaSharo, I could be wrong and it's another oldie.
Right now they are hot on the Vixen Motorhome, which is rare...check out the history at http://www.vixenrv.com
These mechanics know their business and don't seem to mind helping. Ask your question there and tell them a Vixen owner sent ya....
Could you please send me or e-mail me some infomation on the engine swap that you do in these little coaches, if possible maybe some pictures also. Sounds like you have came up with a great solution for these things.
Use the entire GM subframe and suspension and make adapter to hookup spindals to the LS struts. You also can adapt the GM rear brakes and get rid of a lot of Renault systems. The only way to go.
Not sure if this message will get to Jackie, but I am interested to know if the reply from Roger was of any help as I find my self interested in replacing the power train in my 85' LeSharo after tranny failed on return trip from West Virginia in SEPT 95'
That is funny I was thinking tha samw thing. I have a 1992 olds regency with 114,000 miles on it and it was my dad's olds. I 'm thinking why not just use that complete front clip and graft to the lesharo. I know this has been a well taken care of vehicle. and the lesharo i have my eye on is 52,ooo miles.
I'm in love woith it but haven;t bought it yet.
It seems from all i'm researching that i may be buying a lemon. no matter what lesharo i buy.
Has anyone considered just grafting entire forward cab area of either Pontiac Aztek, or a minivan like Dodge Caravan onto a Lesharo? In this way the entire power train and all electronics would be updated! The meausurements are about 72 inches wide/high at rear of door area. Most difficult part is how frame underneath is grated to rear of Lesharo section.
Just an idea!!

I'm planning an engine swap in 1985 lesharo using a 1990 3800 Olds v/6. What should I lookout for. How can the wiring be sorted out. What is needed for guages. I planned on using the lesharo steering colum and tie in the G.M wiring. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
