Out of curiousity, why would you want to go to a manual trans? If you go that way, you would have to get the clutch assembly, shifter, clutch pedal, and either cluth linkage or a slave cylinder setup. You may possibly have to get a different transfer case. There is also the possibility of a driveline length change. In my opinion it would not be worth it.
I have been in the transmission business for 45 years and here is my take on your question. Don't do it...That trans in your truck is a geat unit. I have a couple of regular cusomers who have serviced regularly and have close to 200,000 mi. on the units. We get occaisional early mechanical failures and there are some electronic governor solenoid problems with this trans. Reply if you have a specific problem.....Ed
Dear "Ed" to the guy that has 45 years of transmission experience. I have a '93 dodge 4x4 automatic trans Could i use a '99 dodge 2x4 automatic trans ? seams like i take each end off and swap my end that fits onto my transfercase onto the '99, and getting the shifter linkage out of each transmission too.
they seam to match up meaning no shortening or lengthening of any axels,
any feedback or any simular experience ?
