I have a 98 chevy s10 that I am having problems with. When you step on the clutch it basicaly does not work.
It does not dis engage the gear so I cant shift or start the vehicle unless it is in neutral.
I think its the slave cylinder but not certain what do you think?
I have a manual v6 Chevy S10 and the fluid is disappearing, now it runs out very quickly. It appears to leak around the bottom of the transmission. When it runs low I can't change gears and have to refill the master cylinder and pump the clutch pedal to regain usage. Do you have an idea of what the problem is and how costly it may be to replace, thanks!
I have a 98 S-10 2.2 5 speed! I'm havin the same problem...but I have to keep ADDING more and more fluid...I have a slow leak around the transmission...and everyone tells me including mechanics that it's the slave cylinder...but try addin some brake fluid to the little cup on the drivers side near the firewall! ;)
Recently had the same problem with a '95 S-10 w/5 speed manual trans. Problem turned out to be low fluid. There is a small cylinder marked "clutch" near the firewall on the driver's side. Check to see if it needs fluid--if so, regular DOT3 brake fluid is all that is required. Pump ths clutch hard & fast before adding fresh fluid as sediment gets in the line.
I have a 1998 s-10 with a 2.2 5-speed. The truck hesitates and bucks when shifting between 3rd and 4th gear. It also does it when there is more torque on it, like going up a hill. Could this be the clutch?
I have the same problem and I replaced the master Cylinder first (easest)but the problem turns out to be the Slave Cylinder which is in the Transmission and will cost approximately $500 to replace. By the way the part only cost $75 but big labor cost to remove and replace the transmission.

I have a manual chevy s10 -1998. once in a while it would loose the tension on the clutch. I almost could not go on reverse and sometimes its hard to go on first gear. I check the oil to see if the level is low. I am still at a max level. No leaks. I had just gotten the clutch replaced as well. dont know why it seems like its loosing some pressure on the clutch.
need some suggestions, solutions, troubleshooting recomendations.
