1976 Pace Arrow 454 Engine Transmission Problem william 10-28-03  
Does not move in reverse. have changed filter, vacum modulator, fluid, ajusted vacum modulator. Is the gear just gone. It also slips in all other gears. do i need a new transmission or any other ideas

Yep, it seems that you more then need as you have done the few items that can some times get things moving, (Filter ECT.) Auto tranny are funny that way, when they work, they work pretty trouble free for long long time, under extreme temps in our Motor homes. When they sit, or start to slip they are due for a rebuild not the end of the world, I have some cheap rebuilds at Kragen for less then 600 dollars now I would not expect one of these to last too long in a motor home, BUT with proper care and feeding it might be a way to go IF you have very limited funds, IF on the other hand you have enough money and are planning on keeping and using your Motor home, I would get yours rebuilt as stock TH400's that come in the Chevy MH for example have heavy-duty transmission with straight cut planetary gears for example and some other EXTREM duty items that the passenger car transmission does not have. You should spend about 2000 for a VERY WELL built Trans (TH400) with new U-joints etc...
