Ford F250 W/ C6 Tranny Need Help Jared 6-18-03
I loaned this truck out to my Brother and I had to have it towed home. because the transmision will not go forward but backups fine. Any Clue Why?
Its 4X4
One More Thing if I need a new trans Can I pick up any C6 trans or will it have to be one from a 4X4??
Re: Ford F250 W/ C6 Tranny Need Help LOREN 9-6-05
I JUST CHANGED THE TRANNY IN MY 86 F250. THE CHEAPEST REBUILT I FOUND WAS AT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS. I PAID 430.00 AND THAT WAS WITH A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER. PLUS YOU GET AN 18 MONTH WARRANTY WITH IT.

It sounds serious to me. I think you need to find a good transmission shop. A trans from a four wheel drive is all that will bolt in place.

It could possible just be a broken Servo Spring. The Only difference between a 4x4 trans and one in a car is that the 4x4 trans has a Short Output Shaft, which is interchangeable with the car trans, you just have to take the trans apart to change it.

Like I said...BOLT IN.....if you are going to tear down a trans to change the shaft, at that time it would be a good idea to freshen up the unit.

The C6 is a good trani and it much cheaper to rebuild than one of the OD's...
