I have a 76 winnie that has been sitting for several months. it will not run in forward gears (auto) until filled with about 1.5 quarts. then after only a hundred yards or so, when stopped, it pours out at least a quart of fluid. i can't see an obvious source. dried pan seal, converter, what? please help or direct me to help. am in the middle of indian res and not too much help here. i can fix it if i know the problem.
You will have to wipe off the transmission as much as you can, refill it and drive it. Then see if you can fine a place that is covered with ATF. You could have a rust hole in the pan, seal leaking, or a leaking gasket.
