|Swap in 4l80 for t400. '90 lexington with 454||ryang||8-13-13|
|Hello. I am looking at a90. Lexington motorhome. The 4l80 started in 91 and I would life to swap one in place. This thing has a454 so it'll have plenty of torque but I want a light converter and over drive. Also considering swapping in a different poweeplant wirh a turbo for mountain highway driving. Any thoughts or experiences with the trans or full swap would be great.|

|1ST Contrary to public opinion you want a low stall converter, I would try to match the 400 spec.|
2nd the big thing is going to be buying and tuning a computer to run this. I did a similar swap in the early days of the aftermerket computors and it worked OK, just a pain to do the custom wireing and mount everything to keep the computer cool enough.
Finally if you are considering a turbo set up you can build a 454 that will get the same power for less money than bolting on a turbo set up or custom swaping in a diesel. If you are carefull what you build it will be absolutely awesome without increasing noise or lowering fuel economy any amount that you will notice. The 1990 big blocks had pretty por combustion chambers, sloppy poorly made intake and exhaust ports, small valves and low compression.
