Transmission problems dave 6-16-11
I have a 91 gmc k3500 4x4 4l80e that keeps blowing out the front seal. anyone know what might be causing this?
Re: transmission problems BUBBA THE BUS TECH 6-17-11
It most likely has a bad pump bushing or plugged drain behind the seal.
Have the pump bushing replaced at a trans shop and ask if the drain hole should be enlarged.
I can't rember if this is the GM trans that also recomended an external seal retainer as well.
A good trans shop can help with that.
Take in your converter ( so they can inspect) and entire trans Out of the vehicle. They will remove the pump and dissasemble it to replace the bushing.
If they want to bill more than $150 to instal a bushing and new seal you are getting ripped.
Good Luck
