Any codes? Can you get 3rd by giving it WOT from a stop?, also by "engine just revs up" do u mean it neutrals out or can you keep your speed? If it doesnt shift into 3rd from 2nd its probally a valve body issue, if your mistaking 2nd for 3rd gear its a smoked\broken band. If it is nuetraling out once it hits 3rd your 3-4 clutchs are probally smoked.

My transmission line fell off in a parking lot and all of the fluid drained out. When I noticed it right away (actually a walker by did) I happened to have some transmission fluid in the back of my car, so he put it in and reclamped the hose in place, and said, "well, you should be good to go for about 3,000 more miles." He did not have the engine on when he put the oil in. But my drive home was crazy. My mechanic came down and told me I was out of transmission fluid and thought that was the problem, but upon filling it with 1 gallon of oil, it would not go over 1st gear, just revels up, but won't change gears after 1st. I can also go in reverse, but in-between 1st and reverse, nothing. Do I need a new transmission or is there another way to fix this problem?
