|Ford, F-250, 2003, Tranny Leak||Art||9-10-10|
|My 2003, F-250 Super Duty 4x4, leaks tranny fluid when I pull hills for 20-30 minutes with a light load. (1,100 lb. tent trailer.) The tranny shop mechanic said that the torque converters in Fords have slippage and overheat - which causes the front seal to leak. He also said the trans has a weak shift between 1st & 2nd gear. His estimate to repair is $2600+. I think he's full of sh@%$, but don't know what else to do. Can anyone offer any expert advice?|

|First off he is correct that the Ford trans (other bmanufacturers too ) has a intentionally slipping tourque converter. It should NOT lead to over heat or leakage.|
SECOND: Transmission shops run about 50% rippoff shops. I should know I have worked both sides of the street.
Find a reputable shop and have it checked again. Depending on the milage you may have to re-build.
