Replacing exsiting TH400 with a 4L80 in 1986 Rockwood 454 engine Richard 7-6-10
I have a 1985 Rockwood Rv with a 454 and a THM400 transmission, I am wonting to replace this unit with a 4L80 not (E). I am hoping to lower the RPM on the motor at 65 MPH at 4200 RPM now. Will this transmission holdup in this RV? RV is 32 feet long.

The 4L80 is enough trans for your unit unless you have really hopped it up a bunch.
Finding one without some sort of computer control is going to be tough, they are almost as rare as hens teeth

Good Luck

No Bubba, They ARE as rare as hen's teeth. There has never been a non-electronic 4L80 avalible with the exception of an aftermarket MANUAL race version, in which all shifts are done manually. Lorne
