92 chevy 6.5 diesel diesel92 3-30-10
I have a 92 chevy dually 6.5 diesel with a 4 speed 4l80. Problem is when i drive the truck it shifts gears just fine but when the service engine light comes on i lose 2,3,and4 gears. Took to shop and the first day he diagnosed he told me it was a bad sensor. called the next and all the sudden i needed a new trans. any ideas would be great! also the main harness on side of trans is it suppose to have trans fluid inside plug?

I do a lot of these did they replace the tps sensor. if so and the code comes back check for a broken wire to the sensor where it comes out of the harness. pull on the wires they might be broke internally. very common, you can still by the pigtail plug from Chevy to repair

I have the same yr and trany i changed the oil pump, rpm sensor. 225$ did myself that yr truck there they had this on there only for a short period of time.it is up by the fire wall has a 2 wire plug. if your truck was a gas it is were the distributor would be. 15mm socket and extension 1 bolt it pulls straight out. the new one drops straight in just have to twist it around to go on the shaft for the oil pump.this might help the shifting out and the check engine light will stop showing up as well only takes half hr
