What does torque converter clutch inductive signature malfunction mean.this is code 1740 i get it about every 300 to 400 hundred miles...

I don't know, but I have the same truck, 2001 4x4 with the 46RE, 120K miles and I just got this. Transmission service last year showed no problems. Fluid looks perfect & transmission maintenance has been regular. Truck drives normally, though in the last 25K miles it seems as though the lockup wasn't as tight as brand new. Over at DodgeForum.colm they have a great article on it.
I plan to clear the code now and have a gameplan ready. I've heard the solenoids are not terrible to replace, but the seals on the web page above might be it too.
