|Those with 4L80E Trans.READ ME||Den||1-21-09|
|If you have a 4L80E GM transmission that is giving you 2nd gear and reverse only, read on.|
I repaired this problem over a year ago.
After replacing the ignition switch wiring harness and still not shifting,I found.... through many hours of diagnosing that the small gauge pink wire from the trans.shift fuse panel down to the left lower rear side of trans had wore and broken at what I believe to be at the firewall pass-thru electrical wiring harness.I cut the pink wire on both ends about 3 inches before they ended.Drilled a new hole in the firewall,installed a rubber grommet and ran a new 14Ga. wire back through the factory GM split loom to the left lower rear of trans. and to the now cut 3inch long pink wire to reconnect the 12 volt power supply from the factory trans. fuse.Hopes this helps.

Your vehicle may have an ignition switch/wiring harness problem causing your trans. issues.I did change mine on the recommendation of a GM dealer tech. but it did not solve the problem,but it may solve your trans. problem. Good Luck
