|4l80e shift problems||Tom||11-24-08|
|No issues at all until Monday after 1992 Chevy G30 van sat for a week. It would not shift into 3-4 and reverse would only work if I turn van off and back on.|
I disconnected ecu to tranny and it seemed to shift better. Not sure If I should replace expensive ecu. Not sure if I should replace valve plate and solonoids.
I checked all wires visibly and cleaned and greased connectors from ECU to tranny.
I know there are speed sensors but not sure if I should replace those either.
I checked ign fuse and connects seem ok.

|The problem with my suburban turned out to be low voltage to the transmission computer putting it in "limp mode" it would only operate in 2nd and reverse. i never did figure out the problem on my own i took it to a transmission shop and they told me it was caused by a bad alternator, i replaced te alternator and the problem persisted. then i took it to a diagnostic center and it ended up being a bad ignition switch. i replaced it and havent had a problem since. the diagnostic fee was $50 definatly worth it, i cant imagine how many parts i would have thrown at it.|
