I also have a 2000 Ford Ranger, it is a six cyliner 2wheel drive, it has 60,000 miles on it when what i thought was hard shifting started happening. I figured I'd give myself a brake from doing jobs like this one time, so i just took it to a local mechanic. He told me id need a new transmission, so i went and got one with 40,000 on it for $500, then- when i went to another shop to have it put in they told me it had something to do with my ball joints/tires, so now I have an extra transmission sitting in my garage for no reason that I need to get rid of. Just some advice, get a few opinions before you go out and buying a tranny. Feel free to e-mail me at schil32@yahoo.com |
