My Baby Rod 4-15-04
I brought a 1992 Flxible transit bus. Its funny to own a bus at age 20. It has 178,023 miles on it. It takes off as if it is a car. It has the 6V- 92 Engine with a 4- Speed Allison Transmission. Yeah, I just put a stereo set in it, and I like going cruisin on the highway. By the way, it does 70 mph!!! The only problem I'm having is that when I'm cruising 70 mph, the CHECK ENGINE Warning light and Buzzer comes on, if I keep on continuing 70, then the Motorguard light flashes on and off as the bus shuts down. What can I do to solve this problem? When I do 60- 68 mph, the bus drives fine, but as soon as I hit 70, all hell breaks lose!!! Please help me, I've got stranded to many times!!!

Hey...

there are NO 4 speed V drive transmissions, Voith makes a 5 speed and the Allisons are 3 speeds...

sounds like it's overheating ???

1992 should be DDEC so I ass-u-me that it's NOT overrev-ing ???

Hi

Transit buses aren't geared to go that fast usually, so I suggest either changing the transmission or installing a split transmission.
