|Railroad bus||Michael P. McILwaine||3-11-04|
|I am looking for a bus c:1930s that would have been used as a railway inspection vehicle.|
It would be equipted with highway wheels and also fitted with HI-Rail wheels for use on the railroad tracks.

|I am planning on publishing a book about my favourite topic, the |
Newfoundland Railway. I plan on completing this project to coincide with
the 25th anniversary of the unfortunate closing of our beloved railway.
I have been a huge fan since I was a little boy in the 1960's ( I'm now
approaching the age of 50 - another great reason to coincide with this
project!) when my late father would take me to the station in Corner
Brook to watch the arrival of the eastbound Caribou from
Port-Aux-Basques. Since that time I have photographed as many of our
trains possible in the last two years of operation, while I was
completing my degree from Memorial University.
My concept is to publish an all colour book with as many railway scenes
as possible along the entire main line from Port-Aux-Basques to St. John's,
and then based on the location of the shots, I shall photograph the
same scene as it exists today. With each photo, I shall include some
railway information and trivia to make it more interesting. I have done
some preliminary test shots based on some photos I have from the 1960's
and 70's I have and am very satisfied with the results.
My reason for contacting you is to humbly ask for any assistance you
could give me. I have seen some of your photos of trains from Newfoundand during 1976 in Brendan Dicks’ latest book and was quite impressed with them.
I am looking for as many varied colour photos
as possible and will gladly renumerate you for any cost involved as well
as give you full credit in the publication.
I have much of the Island covered and re-photographed but am still looking to
fill in some gaps and improve on my scenes.
This project is a labour of love and something I've dreamt about for a
long time. I want it to be visually appealing and a fitting tribute.
Could you please let me know what you think or what assistance you can
provide. Fee free to contact me by email, telephone or in writing if you
have any questions or would like to discuss this further.
Thank you so much.
Yours most sincerely,
Kenneth G. Pieroway
