Electric Dipsticks Paul 10-3-03
In regards to detroit Diesels (6C92 - DDEC -I live in Ohio and it is getting cold now, does anyone know if the electric dipsticks really work, or if the work in this type of engine?
Re: Electric Dipsticks David 10-22-03
I don't know if they really work or not. I have a 1978 GMC RTS II with the 8V71 Detroit Diesel in it and live here in Ohio too. I know it will be trouble trying to get it started when it gets cold. I see that J.C. Whitney sells magnetic heaters, electric dipstick heaters, heater hose water circulating heaters, and oil pan heaters. If I could get it installed somewhere on our bus, I think the water circulating heater would be best. They have one that is 2000 watts. All of the other heaters are less output, and the 8V71 is a big engine. Sorry if I have not been as helpful as hoped.
