WRONG !!! The speed is set by the GEAR RATIO !!! the computer or mech govern only sets the MAX RPM for a motor, if you raise the MAX RPM by 200rpm.. you'll gain 5 mph and loose about HALF the life of the motor !!
Highway gears are what you need. This will also save your transmission from going kaput when you push it on the highway. Also, I'm pretty sure your Flx has a governor; if it's safe to do so, look into removing it. Those two things should help your bus boogie.
I have a 90 Flexible bus with a Detroit Diesel and have been told that the speed is set by a computer a and that it will take a Service Tech from the Detroit Diesel company to change it. I was warned that while it can be done it will be expensive to do so. So I guess the choice is either learn to travel in the slow lane or don't count on a lot of Christmas presents under the tree if I want speed.
