I'm looking for a reasonably priced bus to convert. I had been thinking of the RTS, but recently was talking to a friend about a MAN he had seen for sale. Besides the obvious advantage of more interior space, can anyone tell me more about these buses and why I should rush out to get one or run from them? Thanks.
From what I have heard, I'd think long and hard before getting a MAN. Every part you need, must be shipped from Germany and can get very expensive. If you get a GMC RTS, you can get an entire doner parts coach for about $2-4,000 and individual parts anywhere. You get a DD 6V92T and a V730 or V731 with an RTS. I don't have an RTS, but they seem to be getting very popular to convert. Add to their nice looks, the fact that R&M sells, caps fenders, lights etc. . . I'd take an RTS over a MAN, hands down, anyday.

If you are looking for an Reasonably priced RTS, You should call UGA campus Transit at the University Of Georgia. They are selling 2 running RTS buses 40 ft w/ ac. One is a 1984 & one is a 1985. They ran route service everyday until this week. They are sold on a bid process but I bet you can get either for $3000. They also have 2 95% complete parts buses going for sale through same process. Probably can get those for 1000-1500 each. One of parts buses has blown head gsket and other needs engine/trans rebuild. All 4 have 200-250 k miles.
All have 6V92 engines, allison v731 tansmissions & trane/vapor a/c systems.
