Jim wrote Could someone please tell me how much this bus (GM4106) weighs?
Jim,
I'm a newbie and can only help with a web link or two to get you close to weights.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bus-converters-library/docvault/newbie_info_by_EGC.htm#THE%20RIGHT%20BUS says (A 35' GMC fully
converted will weigh 20-25000#)
http://www.waypoint.com/users/~hubbard/bcl/Why_did_you_choose_your_bus.htm says GMC. 4104 (52-60) is 35' x 8'. 4501 (54-56) 40x8. 4106 (61-65) 35x8. 4107 or 08 (66-78) "Buffalos". 4903 (68-69). 4905 (70-80) are 40'. Pluses The GM s are the lightest of all the busses at 24,000 lbs finished I have the least hassle with old bridges, and as low as GM s are I can drive in old towns, off the truck route and not get stuck under a bridge!
That's the best I've seen so far - sorry if you already knew this much and were looking for more,
Dan
I am looking at purchasing a bus 4106 1959 to travel with my wife and children (7 & 9). I am very mechanical but have never dealt with such an engine.
Can you give me some hints as to what to expect and maybe what to look for before we purchase the bus.
We intend to travel to Mexico and central America from Canada.
Thanks for your time
