Was wondering if this type bus shell good for restoring. looking at one for sale for $1950.body looks to be in pretty good shape. runs and was converted in 1967. needs to be renewed/upgraded. Thanks David
:The problem with old buses is parts brakes, suspension and someone to work on them. This by us has all these problems. After 3 conversions I learned to stick with MCI's. Look for an mc8, you won't reget it. pay more, get more. . .

I have one that I bought a few years ago and I like it. What the others said is true. Parts are getting scarce BUT can be found.I only bought it because the more I looked the more the prices went up! You CAN pay more but not necessarily get more unless your looking to go up to 60-80K. I have about 10k invested so far andit runs OK
Personally, I like the older model buses. I have a TDH-3610 that my wife and I full time in. The brake parts are a little hard to find, but, I've only had to replace mine once, and bought an extra set. As to the engine, the '71 series and the '92 series engines are still in production and very easy to find parts for. One nice thing about those engines, is that they are mechanically injected, so you don't have to have DDEC certification to work on electronics- there are none. The structure of the bus is unique in that it is of the 'Monocoque' design, and has no frame. the structural stability of the bus is in the cross members and longitudinal members, this means that the roof carries as much of the weight of the bus as the floor.

I must concur that a more modern bus like an MCI would be a more satisfying camper for most folks. A Bluebird or any bus with a frame can be cut and tweaked in many ways, but DO NOT DISTURB a monocoque GM structurally.
