I HAVE A 1984 GMC RTS W/6V71, I JUST PURCHASED A 6V92, NOT THINKING,.. ITS OUT OF A TRUCK.. IS THE RTS ENGINE A LH ROTATION, AND MY NEW 6V92 A RH ROTATION??? IF SO, CAN YOU CHANGE PARTS AS IN THE CAMSHAFT, ECT TO CHANGE ROTATION, OR DO I HAVE A ENGINE I CANNOT USE???? THANK YOU,
You will have to change the camshafts and and the flywheel housing as the truck housing will not work in a bus. You will also tha front mount from your old engine. You may also need to change the turbocharger mounting location all other parts should work. Use the timming gears from the bus engine these gears ard hardened and will last much longer than the truck gears.

I'm not sure about the 92 series, but, I do know that the 71 series could turn either direction, as evidenced by many a truck driver who popped the clutch at a stop light. Ibelieve your RTS engine is LH. If you want to know which direction of engine you have, check the serial # and it will have an 'L' or an 'R'. The more I think about it, the more it seems logical that the 92 was RH or LH because they were used in a lot of marine applications, and when they put two engines in a boat, one always turned opposite the other to counteract torque.
Any body else have any input?
Pretty sure you have an LH in your RTS. According to the info on MAK's board, you are better off selling the RH engine and buying a LH rather than trying to convert it over.

you just have to change timing gear arrangement
Not only do you have to change the timing configuration, you must change the intake and exhaust manifolds, air fins on the alternator, fan, and a lot of other parts that are too numerous to mention.
