Squel in furnace thomas emery 11-29-11
My atwood model l8940 had a squeal in the fan when it came on! It had come on gradually and would wake everybody on the Quartzite desert. I finally said enough is enough and open up the furnace to investigate. sticking the long screw driver (standard) between the housing and the fan would slow down and the squeal would stop, then i knew it was the fan and housing. to get it to stop i pressed the screw driver between the motor and the housing in about the 10 oclock position after pressing in several postions that spot worked but be careful and get carried away or you might make it worst. I hope this helps
