1948 Flex Flyer Renovation Story Sharon 6-1-99
I am a freelance writer in Austin, TX., and I'm working on a feature article surrounding the planned renovation of the "Texas Top Hands Band"'s old 1948 Flex Flyer bus. The focus of the article is how bands tour the country - comparing yesteryear with today, as narrated from the seats of the old bus. I'm seeking any sources of background information regarding the '48 Flyer and any old timer musicians out there with really memorable bus touring stories they'd like to share.

I was the drummer for the Texas Top Hands in the mid-late 70's. I traveled many miles in that old bus.

One time sitting in the bus during a break in our show and was talking to Johnny Bush, he said "do you know where those air horns on the top of this bus came from?" "I said I don't know." "Johnny said they used to be on the hood of my car." I found that to be a funny story.
