Trailer vs 5th wheel ann harrison 2-11-07
We are just starting to look for a trailer. We now realize we need some good advice for this purchase. What should we look for, we plan on traveling the country for at least 6 months when we get it. What would we be better off with a trailer or a 5th wheel?

If there is any you can use a fifth wheel, then buy it. The safety factor when pulling a fifth wheel is worth any extra cost you may incur. I had a tire go bad on a regular towable three years ago and lived to replace it with a fifth wheel. There is negligible whipping when a truck passes you and the load is where it should be on a vehicle, between all four tires. The extra storage room is nice also.

I have had both. 5thj wheel do pull nice with minimum whiping. We just went to a tong pull as we decided we are to old to get into the bedroom that is not a full stand up one. We have a low profile 30 trailer with a first class hitch be Reese. WE have only pulled it twice but it pulled wonderfully. Did not experience any whipping. Both have good and bad points.
