We have a 2007 Jayco Eagle 322FKS Trailer that has aluminum framing. We have had no problems at all.
In fact aluminum is much lighter than wood and it won't rot, in case of a leak.
Wood vs alum. Actually there is very little diff in weight. Less than 100 pounds--the weight is in the frame, cabinets, appliances, axles and etc.
As far as leaks, keep in mind the only studing is in the sidewalls-most units are not aluminum caged-floor studs and roof rafters are still wood. Paneling on iniside still wood as are roof panels.
So, you still have the chance of deteriation, should a leak occur.
On the other side of the coin--in the past few years sealants has improved vastly as well as double bulb seals for slide rooms.
I have been an RV dealer for over 45 years, and I firmly do believe we have the best products ever.
