Award travel trailer purchase Nancy Kienitz 7-5-03
My husband and I are thinking of buying a 27' 1995 model (it was built on Nov. 1994) for $8500. Does this seem like a fair price? The interior is excellent. The outside is VERY dirty as it has set unused for 3 years. Also, what things should we be on the lookout for that could be a problem? We have a 1997 Ford 150 pickup. Is this a good tow vehicle for this trailer?

Nancy,

My wife and I have a 1995 30 foot Award Classic which is an EXTREMELY easy thing to tow. However, there is a problem with water leaks in Award Travel Trailers which can be stopped. Look for water damage in anything you consider buying.

In my humble opinion I think that your vehicle would handle any Award Trailer very well

Hi My wife and I purchased an Award 30'
Classic in 00, loved it extreamly easy to tow I have a F150 4.6 lt and you don't even know your are towing
an RV. However Award did have a leakage problem, ensure you check for and water damage, reseal at least every two years, remove the water filler component and check the tighness of the venting hose. A friend of ours who owns the same Award was wondering why his floor cost him $4,000 to repair because of water damage "the vent hose on the water filler came off" this causing water to accumliate on the floor every time he put water in the tank. (a very senior person) Enjoy your Award we did

I have refurbished 3 BOLER trailers and
two Award 23 foot trailers. The windows in the AWARD tend to leak and the bottom edge of the trailer then rots. Check along the inside edge for rot.
The wall can be rebuilt. The windows
are removed and reset with proper caulking to prevent leaks.
I have a 1992, 23 foot AWARD for
sale. It has been fully refurbisheb.
I have used it for two years.
Will email photos if intrested.

What have you found to be the best method for repairing leaks in the Award?
Re: Award travel trailer purchase CARL 9-15-03
IT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD PRICE BUT YOU SHOULD CHECK BTHE BREAKS AND IF ANY PROBLEMS REPLACE ALL BREAK MAGNETS AND PUT ON NEW SHOES AND TURN DOWN THE BREAK DRUMS
WE HAVE A 23 FT FOR 6 YEARS NOW AND LOVE IT HAVE HAD ONLY ONE WATER PROBLEM WITH SIDE WINDOWS WE LEFT IT OPEN A BIT AND GOT WATER IN IT OTHER THAN THAT CHECK IT OUT.
AT 12O KIL OR 70 MPH WE HAD A FLAT TIRE AND PULLED IT FOR ABOUT 1OO KIL.
IF IT WASNT FOR SOMEONE PULLING US OVER WE WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN. NO CHANGE IN RPM ON TRUCK AND NO SWAY ON TRAILER AT THAT SPEED
WE ARE INTERESTED IN GOING TO A 27 FOOT IN NEER FUTURE AND WILL BE LOOKING FOR AN AWARD AGAIN
