Now it seems that Jerry forgot that he is trying to buy a towbar from me and is now talking about a camper. After checking out the headers from the email, I got his IP of 216.139.177.147 and,big surprise, it's an IP from Nigeria.

Anyway, I just thought you would find this interesting.

We have an add in the classified section of a Horse For Sale. A man with the name of Scott Owen wrote saying the very same things to us. He wants to buy the horse, never saw a picture of this horse and wants it for he and his wife wedding in Feb.
This man is from London, so he says.
He has doubled the amount of the asking Price, and said when we received the check to contact the shipping company immediately and set up a time and date for the horse to be picked up, and wire the cash money to the shipping agent.
we ask for this mans phone no. he said his phone was faulty and he even called and went thru a Enterperter because he claims he doesnt speak English.
The name he gave for us to contact the shipping agent is..Davidshipping agent, we wrote this guy not knowing any better and he said he has done Business with this Scott Owen for 10 yrs and is a very respected Business man.
Davidshippingagent, his name is David Jones according to details on our computer.
Thank you so much for posting this on here so we will know this is all Fraud.
We just knew something was up.
These people need to be caught!!

I have been getting similar eMails from South Africa. In some cases the author(s) claim to have gotten my eMail address from the Ivoirien Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Others claim they obtained it from a business journal over there. I believe it's listed in a monthly publication as I get a large "surge" eMails about the same time every month. I have eMailed several contacts at the Ivoirien Chamber of Commerce and even sent a letter by mail asking them to stop, but nothing seems to work. I never get any response. I am convinced this is an annoying scam. To date I have received several hundred eMails. Other than changing my eMail address, I don't know how the stop them so am constantly deleting these messages. Any suggestions from anyone?

This is a scam I had a similar false buyer that originates from Nigeria. They don't talk shipping but want you to open an account with a false bank website mine was http://www.bankofsouthafrica.com...no such bank exists.
They send you a check that is several thousand over your asking price that includes the shipping costs you put the check into your bank ( banks sometimes take 10 days to clear them) meanwhile you get another email that says something like this " we have discovered that we included the freight by mistake in the check we sent you...our shipper now needs the funds so could you please send the freight component back to us, this is urgent so could you place those funds into this bank acc No 353 576 999 123... you wire the dough to them ( its real money) the bank that you put the original check rings you a few days later to say its a false check... go to http://www.scambusters.com you can see many simular scams. Beware take care David

Got email message to take pictures and send to potential buyer to purchase rug, negotiated price and asked I for certified funds. Like other stories, overpayment $2000 for $500 item, send balance to shipping company to take to England to his daughter, name on MO written over by another name so unreadable, no return address, English stamp, cancellation just S.L.M.C.

I received similar offers. They are scams. I conversed with one. Ingnored the other two.
