How Do We Take Over Payments Gerry 3-29-03
We have a chance to take over 12 years worth of payments on a 6 month old trailer loaded and in like new condition. We probably wouldn't qualify for our own financing. I confess I have no idea how to go about putting a transaction like this together. Any help would be most appreciated.

Usually you draw up a contract between you and the seller declaring that you will continue to make all payments until the unit is payed off and the seller agrees to sign over the title once you've made the last payment. Possession is 9/10ths the law and with a small and simple document between you and the seller it usually is a good deal. I've done several of these items in the past with cars and it work out great. At all cost leave the actuall finance company out of it as they will frown on the idea. Though in most states it is not illegal to do such a deal finance companys will tell you that it is. As it usually happens the seller may be in a financail bind and the buyer may have had past credit problems so it really works out great. just my two cents worth, good luck.

My goal is: To have a nice coach or bus conversion sitting at my home for use during this spring, summer and beyond. I have the means (within reason) and the will to take over payment on someone else's dream of RV ownership and make it my own, but find it difficult to find a nice, full of amenities coach that will suffice. It seems that those who have coaches think of "taking over a payment" as a last resort for their needs, and will not discuss it openly on the Internet. I have an annuity that can be used to finance my dream, without any problem or worry. I am sure that there are many folks that would like to get out from under their payment, and I would like to help them and myself in that process. Any hints or assistance would surely be appreciated. Thanks, in advance....

Ok, say a friend of ours has taken over the payments on our pickup. The loan is still in our name but our friend has the vehicle insured under his insurance under his name. Will this be a problem if he was to wreck the vehicle and would the insurance pay the claim? Also, would they pay the claim to the lienholder or loss payee?
