Compare Fifth Wheel to Bumper Pull Alicia 3-2-03
This will be our 1st travel trailer. Is a fifth-wheel superior to a bumper-pull? We will travel up north through mountainous regions once or twice a year. All other times we will be using it for summer camping & fall hunting. Will one do better over the other? Any comments on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

I own both...in my opinion there is no comparison to fifth wheel. Most of the time its a white knuckle ride in the wind or passing 18 wheelers with the bumper pull, and you can pull much more wieght with the fifth wheel.
I also have gooseneck adapters so I dont use up my whole bed with fifth wheel hitch.

Eager to hear what people have to say...as we are debating the same issue!

I have owned and pulled both. You won't beat a 5th wheel for pulling ease and handling. It just depends on what you like. I now have a small, narrow Trail-Lite (21") bumper mount that pulls great with a Durango. I bought it to travel long distances with a family of four and have been well pleased using the Equal-i-zer hitch with it. However, there have been times on the open road with 18 wheelers that I would like to have my 5th wheel back.
Highly interested! James Cole 3-3-03
I wish to buy any kind of used airconditioner, so send me the emails of those wanting to sell so that i can make a right choice.
Thanx

This is a debate that a lot of people go thru. No easy answer. The 5th is located over the axle so it backs easier but if you use a equalizer hitch and in some cases a sway bar, you get the good pull with a travel trailer. The TT actually gives you better useable head room in the shorter units. I sell in the mountains and I think we sell about 50-50!

I've had both and the fifth wheel towing is far more comfortable than the TT. Now if you own a low profile to tow with you could haul anything.

With the same truck, would either hitch allow you to pull a heaver weight?
