Seeking scamp 5th wheel info Ed Meehan 11-15-02
We have a Scamp 16ft(mint)loaded and are thinking of upgrading to a scamp 5th wheel. We love the scamp--even visited the factory. Have heard that the overhead bed is warm/stuffy--especially with the large front bath. Any comments at all about the scamp 5th wheel would be appreciated.
thanks --also can reply to edmeehan@precisionblend.com

Hello mr meehan;

saw your query on air circulation in the bunk area of a scamp deluxe 5th wheel. we are prompted to reply, because this was the same concern we had before we bought our scamp 5th.

we have traveled with our scamp- a lot- for three years now, and, so far, we have not suffered from a close or stuffy feeling in the bunk. we do have the large bath option. but, we have the regular roof vent, plus the high volume roof vent option in the bunk area. we rarely turn the fan on, but, we have used it.

we have developed a positive feeling about the comfort of the bunk area, in a scamp 5th wheel. it is roomy and well lighted. in fact, we have more or less covered the window that is at the head of the bunk, because we sit up and read in the evening, and we have not missed the window at all.

you may be interested to hear that we did add a circulation fan at the head of the stairwell, for those times when we use air conditioning, to bring cool air to the bunk. we do not turn it on often, but when it is very hot, it will get the bunk cooled off quickly. we used a 12 volt fan.

hope you have found this helpful. did you get a scamp? are you still considering it?

oh yes-- we pull with a dakota v-6, 5 speed. we get 17 mpg towing. we are satisfied with this rig.

5th wheel clearence info Kim Garvey 2-3-03
Can you tell me what the recommended clearences are between the trailer underhang and truck box upper-most part would be. I have a 2002 F350 4X4 and am buying a 2000 Tahoe 29' RLS Model and have concerns that I may need to flip the axles. Help....

Measure from the ground up to the top of the pickup bed. 50" or less, order the Scamp fifth wheel with standard axle. If more than 50", order the trailer with a high lift axle. Or call Scamp 1-800-346-4962

Where do you find the vin number on a Scamper 5th wheel trailer? I have one in my park and am trying to find out who owns it.

Thanks

I would be interested in a used Scamp 5th Wheel. Can they be pulled with a mini-pickup (Nissan)?
