Cougar 5th Wheel by Keystone John Rhodes 7-28-02
I am interested in purchasing a Cougar 5th Wheel from Keystone, 281 EFS. List price is roughly $28,000.00. Can anyone tell me how much I can expect to reduce this price if I haggle? Also, what options can I expect the dealer to trow in for no aditional charge?

Hi, John did you mean the 286efs? I purchased one last year and got it for 25,800 with Hitch, mirrors and brake controller. Get rig, I feel that the Laredo to be a step down not up, not to mention the colors were awful last year (2002)

John-

Cougars is a great rig, but spend the extra $1000 and get a Laredo, same company but lots a little uppers. I would suggest you compare the two (both are made by Keystone). My total price (in Washington State) was $21,500. with all extras except Phone jack, TV shelf in master bed, and privancy glass. Then at delivery I noticed they gave them all to me FREE!!! So to answer your original question, about 30% off list price is a good deal.

We just bought one at the Cleveland, OH Camper Show. It was a Cougar 281 bunkhouse, 5th wheel. It was loaded but we add the stand alone dinette for $450, hide abed for $500 and they gave us the day/night shades and outside shower for free. Base Price was $18,995 and that was with the VALUE PACKAGE AND CAMPING IN STYLE PACKAGE.

We purchased a used 2002 Cougar 286efs this year. Paid $17000 from an individual and it was immaculate! We love it and so far only minor problems. We think Keystone builds a good product.
