RV manufacturer ratings jd 3-1-14
Hello all, I'm pretty new at the RV life and would like some guidance on Ratings for Manufacturers.
Currently looking at a 2013 Forest River Salem 26' Trailer. This one is the best price but I've seen some reviews about Forest River which are not too kind. Also considering JayFlight, Dutchmen -- Aerolite, and North Trail. All seem to look pretty good. Any thoughts on all or one of these manufacturers would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.

1st They are all white boxes on wheels.

Salem is not a bad choice but inspect the unit before accepting it from the dealer.

Forest River as a Who;e probably produces more RVs than any other manufacturer and has more online complaints dueto that.

As to what trailer: They all have the same appliances, the Frames are built the same way. Usually by one of two companys.

What is important is things like details of how well the roof membrane is installed and fit and finish are done.

Buy the one that meets your standards of fit and finish with the features and price you are looking for.

They really are just white boxes on wheels.

Good Luck

Hi jd, look to the right under the RV Mechanic header above, put the cursor over resources, click on RV ratings. This is basically what consumers think of their RV's. It's a start. Good luck

Hey Bubba, thanks very much for your insight. Is there one type of roof that is more other? And what type of maintenance does a roof require.
Many thanks again for your help. Cheers!
