I'm thinking of converting a bus to an rv, and want something that will handle rough dirt roads. I like the look and room of transit style, and it sounds like the pushers are nice. How will they work off road? It looks like they have less clearance than traditional school busses, but at least they have less rear overhang.
We use a 1988 Bluebird on GMC chassis with 427 to travel 44 km of logging roads to deliver our guests to the snowcats that take them to our lodge.
We run really good knobby tires all around and have had NO problem, even when pushing through a foot of snow or through mud in the spring.
Our snowplow contractor predicted disaster, but has admitted that the unit has far exceeded his expectations
The tough rear suspension can be a bit of a bear going through pothole, though, and we are currently investigating an air ride suspension for the rear.
