I am looking for a school bus. Ideally it would be a mid 1980's, 20-35 passenger, International deseil DT 360-466, with not over 130,000 miles. My budget is somewhere around $4000.
The International DT engine is a necessity as I will me driving over the Rockies at least twice a year. I don't plan on doing more than a real basic conversion (couch/bed and small kitchen). Most of the space will be storage, as I travel to and sell at ren-faires across the country.
Check out ebay.com. I just bought a 1986 GMC 65 Pass. (or 44, depending on the size of the kid on the seat), for $1225 on auction. It doesn't have the engine specs you're looking for, actually a gasoline engine, but is very strong. And it came in way under what I had budjeted. The bus came out of service 7/99 and has maintenance records. It's tip top. You might find exactly the bus you're looking for on ebay. Just keep checking.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pam,
I did some nosing around about the
newer International motors and found
out that the 360 was not really built
to handle over the road hauls. It
was designed for short run, school
route type of trips. The 466 is the
motor you want. You may want to expand your horizons and look at
alternative busses. I just posted
a message for a friend of mine who
has a Crown. It would make an excellent coach for ren faires, and
other such environments. What ever
you get, good luck to you, and if you
ever see the "Sojourner" at any of the faires, come over and say hello -

I might be able to help you with a diesel bus. Can you use a larger (35 footer)or are you completely sold on the medium sized (25-30 foot) buses?
Also, do you have any dislike of Caterpillars? (the engine, not the fuzzyworm!)
I have a bus or two that are in good shape, but I have nothing by International harvester.
If interested, please correspond. If not, I am still available for fre advice. I've owned about 30 buses, worked on them all, have dismantled three, and currently own a 1970 Gillig
