Flat topped school bus design Paul 8-29-07  
I am considering converting a school to use as a "cabin" on a remote piece of property. I noticed a slightly different roof design on a 1988 Superior bus for sale on ebay (auction #120153825387) this roof is flat and does not have the typical curvature on each side as most school buses do. I feel the flat design would be a huge benefit for planning an interior. My questions are; Is this a typical roof design for a superior bus? do other manufacturers build buses with this type of roof, and if so are any more recent than 1988? What is this design called in bus lingo? Might I find this design in other lengths or just an 8 row bus? Thanks.

The later Superior bus bodies had a flatter roof design than what was used for many years previously.

The Superior body buses were not bad bus bodies. The problem with them is they are an orphan brand and any OEM specific parts are now made of unobtainium.

The flatter roof design is not going to increase the interior volume significantly. I am thinking you will notice virtually no difference once you are inside.

Superior, like every other bus body builder, made bus bodies in various lengths on various OEM supplied chassis. I have seen Type 'C' buses as short as 4-rows and as long as 13-rows.
