|School bus lengths?||Jason||2-4-07|
|I am new to the bus conversion movement. Could anyone give me the exact lengths off short school buses? How many different lengths are there? I want to buy a school bus, but my property has limited access in Colorado. Thanks for any help.|

|Hey! I'm in Colorado too!|
Busses aren't usually spec'd in length, their spec is in passengers. A Van chassis is usually 25 to 27 passengers and is the standard 8 foot width and roughly 20+ foot length (almost the same as a box van). There are a few P30 chassis busses that are slightly taller and longer that carry 27 passengers.
A 61 to 70 passenger bus is in the 35 to 40 foot range and an 81 passenger buss is 40+ feet. I think it's 38 or 39 feet that's the cut-off for a class C CDL, so usually busses are just shy of 40 feet. The 40 foot RTD transit busses require a class B license.
Hope that helps!
