Post New Message I swapped the 6.83 rear in my '83 GMC/ BlueBird (366 gas) with a 4.88. Swap was easy with someone who's done it before. Only had to call for help with one nut, the driveshaft yoke. Went from 55mph @ 4000rpm (& LOUD!)to 65mph @ 3000rpm & much quieter. Speedo is NG now but that's ok, you can't see it anyhow.
