Re: 5 th wheel towing with school bus by Alan Miller
Post New Message Unless you cut off the back of the bus and mounted a receiver plate to the frame, you would have to extend the frame, install a pental hitch, and purchase a truck dolly with a receiver plate, to tow behind the bus, then latch the 5th wheel to that.

In that case you would be towing two (2) trailers, and to do so would require a commercial class A drivers license with doubles endorsement.

It would be almost impossible to back, you would be restricted to where you could drive it, in addition to drive time restrictions and more.

Since most school buses (I don't know if you you have a transit style or conventional) have relatively short wheel bases for the size, your tail swing (in addition to the 8' width of the bus) will most likely mean that you'll have extend the tongue of any trailer you wish to tow to compensate or you will most certainly find yourself jacking the bus and trailer.
