School bus towing?? Ken 3-12-06
I just purchased a 1992 16 passenger school bus (conventional long nose front engine) with a dt360 and A545? trans...I would like to know how to add a trailer hitch for my car hauler, does anyone sell these things? I do alot of welding and fabrication with my race car, so I "could" build one, but don't want to. Lazy, I guess. Will the drivetrain hold up, you think? I'm racing around Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, once or twice in Kentucky per season, so very little or no mountains, mostly rolling hills. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Get a universal one for RV. You got a good hauler.

Hey Buddy

It isn't hard at all. I made a tow hitch out of the simplest materials, just about 18" of heavy channel iron, cut at a 90 degree angle about 1/3 of the way, bent with heat into an "L" shape, then welded and braced. I use there 1/2 inch bolts with loctice to attach it to my bumper and hauled stuff as heavy as my F250 Ford with a load of tools. Most buses have Very Strong bumpers. Call me if you need any advice.
Happy bussin'
