|I don't believe they ever put a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on any removable or changeable oomponent like an engine, transmission, etc.
You should be able to find a SERIAL number on any engine, most commonly found on a stamped metal plate, usually on the side or near the bottom of the engine block.
So, the VIN is a permanent number for the CHASSIS, not the engine.
