Post New Message I've only ever seen VIN numbers stamped on motorcycle engines. There's usually a casting number on the block, right above the oil pan or around where the freeze plugs are. There are also casting numbers on the heads, but all these numbers usually correspond to the last few numbers of the VIN or they don't correspond at all.

I've seen tags for diesel engines on the valve covers, but I don't think those numbers match the VIN either.
