Old Bus Info? Jake191 9-4-05
I am looking into buying this bus but I dont know where to get some information on it. It is a 74 Ford school bus and I need to know possibilities or ranges for minimum coverage insurance, engine information, and anything else I can get my hands on. It has already been converted and I'm planning on using it for camping trips etc. no longer than 150 miles.

Ive owned two schoolbuses over the years, and finally gave up looking for insurance... I ran into dead-ends everywhere I looked... when encountering people with schoolbus insurance, I would call their carrier, only to find they no longer insure buses... ???.. good luck

I too had an insurance problem for years and this is how I solved it: In states where insurance in manitory (nearly every state now is), call the particular state that you are ins State Insurance Burea and tell them you are trying to comply with the manitory insurance law re. insuring your bus. EVERY state MUST by law provide you with an insurer thet BY LAW MUST insure your bus for AT LEAST min. liability. I had to go on "high risk" insurance for the first year but after that it quickly went from $750.00 the first year, down to $500.00 and to $300.00 by the third year PROVIDING no accidents. My bus insurance now costs me $158.00 per year for min. liability.Good luck and BE PERSISTANT in your pursuing this as it is YOUR RIGHT to be able to obtain insurance. The truth is that ALL and EVERY insurance co. MUST cover you but agents are not always familiar with this law. A quick call to your State Insurance Rep. will get results!
