Bus Rear-end Conversion Bob Drew 9-3-05
I have a 1990 Ford, D600, made by Blue Bird for Ford. I can not get pass 50mph. I would like to change the rear end to a 4.11 for more speed, but how will that affect my take off speed? Also, any recommendations as to what brand of rear end I should be looking for?

Thanks, Bob

Re: Bus Rear-end Conversion wrench 9-8-05
What engine do you have in it?? thare may be a governor limiting the engine RPM at ???
Easy test, hold it in lower speed( 1 or 2) & check if the RPM goe above that of being in high gear. That would be cheaper then replacing rear eng or???

I swapped the 6.83 rear in my '83 GMC/ BlueBird (366 gas) with a 4.88. Swap was easy with someone who's done it before. Only had to call for help with one nut, the driveshaft yoke. Went from 55mph @ 4000rpm (& LOUD!)to 65mph @ 3000rpm & much quieter. Speedo is NG now but that's ok, you can't see it anyhow.
Call with questions.
